THE KEY TO THE FUTURE PROJECT PHASES
The Key to the Future Capital Campaign is a long-term initiative designed to address the immediate and future needs of both Weehawken Creative Arts (WCA) and Ridgway Chautauqua Sherbino (RCS). While we are proud to have completed Phase I, this campaign is far from over. We are currently in Phase II, focusing on critical next steps, but significant challenges and opportunities remain.

Our vision extends well beyond this phase, and we invite the community to join us in shaping and supporting future phases as we work to secure a vibrant cultural hub for generations to come.

PHASE 1: DOWN PAYMENTS (COMPLETE!)

Phase 1 entailed working with our community-minded landlords to secure the opportunity to own the properties at 145 & 147 N. Cora.

In 2022 and 2023, we were able to negotiate a purchase price and loan -- and put a total down payment of $200k ($100 from each organization) to acquire the properties via a loan.
Estimated Cost: $200,000
Time Frame: June 2022 to February 2023
COMPLETE.

PHASE 2: RETIREMENT OF PURCHASE LOAN.
CRITICAL DEFERRED MAINTENANCE (we are here!)
This phase is centered on retiring the purchase loan and addressing critical deferred clean up and maintenance for the property. While this step ensures the property remains a stable and functional resource, it is only part of the journey. We need your support to complete this crucial phase as a foundation for future growth.

PHASE 3:
FUNDING FOR THE PLANNING & DESIGN OF A COMPREHENSIVE CAMPUS
to accommodate RCS and WCA's current and future needs

-
Once the property is fully secured, we will turn our attention to planning and designing a comprehensive campus to meet the current and future needs of WCA and RCS.
-
This phase will explore solutions such as remodeled spaces, expanded facilities, and potentially even incorporating affordable employee housing.
-
Community involvement will play a pivotal role in shaping this vision. We will host opportunities for feedback, visioning sessions, and collaborative discussions to ensure the final plan reflects the needs and aspirations of the community.
-
We also welcome early conversations with supporters who are passionate about contributing to the success of this visionary phase. If you’d like to play a role in shaping the future, please reach out—we want to hear from you.

PHASE 4 (a, b, c, d)
FUNDRIAISING & IMPLEMENTATION FOR CAMPUS MASTER PLAN - likely in phases.
-
Phase 4 will focus on implementing the plans developed in Phase III. This may include a mix of remodeling existing structures, extending facilities, or building new spaces, particularly on the Cora Street lot. Given the scale of this phase, it will likely occur in sub-phases and require a major fundraising effort.
-
This ambitious stage will ensure the property becomes a dynamic, sustainable campus that serves our community’s arts, culture, and educational needs for decades to come.

Estimated Cost: $1,500,000–$7,000,000
